CEO of Girls Who Code
Stakeholders - Employees
When I started Girls Who Code, I never would have imagined that we would grow to become a movement reaching almost 90,000 girls of all backgrounds in all 50 states. Here at Girls Who Code, we build nonprofit websites, but we really change the world by helping young girls live up to their inspiring visions.
I want to emphasize the “we” here. This company would be nothing without your hard work. And now, just six years into our work, we have reached a tipping point.
We have all been pulling out all the stops, staying late, developing numerous websites, and ironing out all the details. Because of our determination, women and girls across the country are coming together to correct centuries-long power imbalances across lines of gender, race, sexuality, and more. I am proud to say that we are on track to achieve gender parity in computer science by 2027.
By witnessing the efforts you have placed on solving the problems of our communities, empowering young generation, and defining the future of our world, I strongly believe on the quote once stated by Helen Keller “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much". You have demonstrated that everyone here has a purpose and together we can change our world
It is incredible. But for us, parity is really just the beginning. We are here to make a history!
The best work happens when you know that it is not just work, but something that will improve other people’s lives. This is the opportunity that drives each of us at this organization. Girls Who Code will launch initiatives that bring us closer to our goal of achieving gender parity in computer science by 2027, while also reinforcing our organization as a clear leader in the global movement for equality.
