In today’s global market, managers must make some great initiatives to explore and put into effect several types of management strategy. The economy in these modern times is so competitive that managers must sometimes look to reduce conventional means of increasing productivity in the workplace. Monetary rewards can only produce a lot of motivation for employees. If a company wants to be as successful as is possible, they must consider their employees well-being and help them drive to not only work hard, but to think creatively and produce original ideas. Empowerment is one method of encouraging such results. Business people today suffer from stress and anxiety due to the pressure of striving for perfection. Workers feel as though they cannot afford to make any mistakes, for they could become expendable and easily replaced by the hundreds of thousands of unemployed in America alone. For example, when I used to work in a multinational organization a group of members were only responsible for increasing sales but due to high sales expectation they were not able to meet the targets and they used to feel demotivated about it. Luckily the team leader of that group was very encouraging, he used to sit with the team and help them to achieve their targets. The coworkers were used to get inspire by them. The multifaceted tool that is empowerment is an abstract but endlessly effective method to improving employee-employer relationships, lessening the stress level within the workplace, and increasing consumer satisfaction. By simply placing instilling a greater sense of trust within employees and communicating with all levels, information networks will open within a company and ideas will flow freely. The ability to motivate employees and give them satisfaction is invaluable to a company and should never be overlooked. Empowerment means delegation of decision making authority when there is a need to take action which is important for both the managers and employees. Following are the main reasons for practicing empowerment in the organization. It provides fast solutions to business problems. It provides growth opportunities for employees. It helps in lowering organizational cost.
Employees benefit from empowerment because they have more responsibility in their jobs. Employee empowerment increases the level of employee involvement and therefore creates a deeper sense of satisfaction and higher levels of motivation. The style of management is changing as the managers are now being considered as the coach, advisors or facilitators. The decision making has been shifted down to the lowest level of the organization.
Employee Empowerment can only be effective when management clearly defines the achievable goals and accountability standards. The management should provide employees with the resources such as time, money, training and relevant and factual information which is supported by the upper and lower management.
