Worldview Paper
Everyone has a worldview but not the same worldview. A worldview is as simple as the way one views the world and the reality that they live in. It becomes the lens that an individual sees the world: from one’s belief about life and death, faith, and morals, down to the decisions individual’s make every day. While there are different kinds of worldviews, there are three primary worldviews: Naturalism, Pantheism, and Theism. All three of which are the foundation for development of other types of worldviews. (Word Count: 86)
The Question of Origin
Asking the question of origin results in many different answers. For a Christian, the answer to this question is quite simple: God, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Christian’s view that life came from life because of God’s working hand. According to Christians, God exists and is the creator of all things. This can be explained through numerous scriptures found in the Bible. The most commonly known is the first verse in Genesis 1:1 where it explains the origin from which humanity was created. Another verse that supports mankind’s origin is told through the story of Isaiah in Isaiah 45:12. In the chapter Isaiah is reassuring to the people that there is one true God. As part of that speech, he reminds the people that instead of complaining they should give their needs to God, and he will hear their cries. Verse 12 is assuring the people that God is the creator of all things and He will grant guidance and protection. (Word Count: 162)
The Question of Identity
In the Christian worldview, it is told that we are a special creation that was created in the image of God which can be explained in 1 Peter 2:9. The best verse to explain Christian worldview on the question of identity would be 1 Corinthians 12:27 where the Bible explains that we, Christians, identity ourselves within Christ himself. On the contrary to the theory of naturalism, Humans are unlike animals. “In Christianity, God created mankind above the animal…” (Weider, 2014, p. 67). As stated in Psalms 8:5 for mankind, this means that we are created “a little lower than the angels”. (Word Count: 101)
The Question of Meaning/Purpose
The view of Christians on our purpose is to be walking testaments of the Lord. The path to salvation is through Christ and Christ alone. Without Christ, even those that followed the Bible previously, would not have the kingdom of the heavens open to them. Even if one rejects aspects of the Bible, salvation can still be reached through giving oneself to Christ. A great example of this can be found in Ecclesiastes 12:13. The Lord wants us to improve and invest in the blessing He bestowed upon us. Therefore, this make things possible for topics such as education, medicine, philosophy, and even art to be “self-guided”. However, these topics should be ruled under the word of God (Matthew 5:16). The key to our purpose as a Christian is to have a close relationship with Christ in every part of our lives. The Question of Morality
The Bible is the context in which Christians use to answer the question of morality. “Right and wrong are not relative to man's perspective, but are based upon God's holy standard” (Weider, 2014, p. 71). Everyone is a sinner in the eyes of Christians (Romans 3:23). The path to salvation is through Christ and Christ alone. Without Christ, even those that followed the Bible previously, would not have the kingdom of the heavens open to them. Even if one rejects aspects of the Bible, salvation can still be reached through giving oneself to Christ. (Ephesians 2:8). (Word Count: 96)
