During the period of 1800-1850, the United States went through many changes as a nation. The United States during this time period went through eras like the “Second Great Awakening”, which saw reform movements and soon created a lot of religious revivals. The era of good feelings with past war happiness after the War of 1812. President Andrew Jackson, was mainly the biggest form of these expansions out west of the Manifest Destiny which had a bad impact on the nation. This sawt more and more Americans to go out west of the new territory required by the United States with the belief that they needed to expand across North America. Although many historians would say this time period of westward expansions brought many together with the expansion of the US to the new land out west, I believe that due to the expansion out west it and created problems between the North and South.
In 1800-1850, many controversial topics were seen and decided on. During this period, the issue that westward expansion created was the New State being added. This created problems in congress as the North and South argued over if these New States would be slave states or free states. This was due to the argument that the North and South had as they fought to make sure one side did not have more power than the other, or else it would be imbalanced. In the Missouri compromise, this is apparent, as congress works out a deal to let Missouri become a state, but deals with the problems the North and South create over if it should be a slave state or a free state.
