Analyzing Police Brutality in the United States
Topic Chosen: Police Brutality
There seems to be many controversies and issues revolving the idea of police brutality in today’s societies and cities, whereas, as a nationwide issues, it’s linked as police brutality to the base roots of the regular routine police and law enforcement practices and ethics (Barack, 2007). It’s been determined that police brutality has deterred into quite the epidemic toward police departments, as well, there’re particularly inadequate amounts of procedures in place in order to revise and look over the complete issue at hand (Barack, 2007). Many human rights corporations have attempted to make several attempts to bring ideas to the table in order to increases he idea of police being held more responsible, as well, change some of the ideas of how law enforcement practice (Barack, 2007). However, its uncertain how, and if, these ideas will be put in place will completely be unpredicted (Barack, 2007). Now, in order to know more about police brutality, we must discuss further.
Police Brutality Overview
Although police brutality is nothing new, the Department of Justice and the Office of Civil Rights have been hard at work in order to discover and investigate through nearly twelve law enforcement agencies in several major areas nationwide due to the specific reposts of either some sort of racial discretion, or even major brutality (Chaney & Robertson, 2013). In the year of 2010, the Office of Civil Rights had investigated and looked into nearly seventeen different law enforcement agencies nationwide, supervising and monitoring nearly five different kinds of lawsuits and settlements in regards to any kind of policy brutality and their agency (Chaney & Robertson, 2013). As well, many of the United States worst riots and other forms of rebellious acts in this day and age seem to have evolved from several allegation from law enforcement brutality, whereas, the damage resulted from the rebellions, in the terms and conditions of any deaths and property demolishment and distraction, can be largely impacted (Barack, 2007). It remains to be, to this day, a large challenge in law enforcement, whereas, brutality instances may end up declining with the addition to any new effective ideas and plans in order to ensure that law enforcement remain responsible with a large emphasized amount of professionalism among agencies (Barack, 2007). Although many kinds of situations of law enforcement brutality may in fact be able to be avoided, there tends to be quite a large amount of responsibility measure in which can be used to order to add ethics and in the effort to overall be able to reduce many of the reoccurring patterns of this kind of problem (Barack, 2007).
Traditionally, law enforcement departments have been able to work together in order to investigate into the conduct of their officials and staff, whereas, many external kinds of steps of being able to watch and curve the police brutality issues are discussed on a normal basis (Barack, 2007). Many forms of responsibility instances and measures have together been able to, nationwide, impact law enforcement agencies and cultures, whereas, they were once ignored (Barack, 2007).
Lawsuits
Lawsuits related to this topic have been shown to be a quite efficient way of being able to control and law enforcement agency (Barack, 2007). For the United States Department of Justice, it’s proposed to be suggested in order to being any kind of suit toward and against any kind of police agency and department simply under the 1994 Violent Crime Control Acts, whereas, this’s able to allows the Justice Department to be able to suit against law enforcement agencies and departments, where then, there’s been sorts of many “practice corruption” suits (Barack, 2007). Although these tend to be dramatic, many individuals themselves have in fact been in some sort of abuse from law enforcement and are entitled to be able to file suits for any kind of mental or physical damages (Barack, 2007). While these lawsuits tend to be quite costly, any kind of police allegation tends to be an additional legal seizure in which can be used to be able to determine any sort of police brutality (Barack, 2007).
These days, prosecutors and lawyers typically don’t have the want to be able to pursue and kind of criminal allegations arisen from any law enforcement officers, whereas, this in fact’s able to surely reflect the specific relationships between the prosecutors, whom surely and completely rely on law enforcement in order to be able to secure any kind of convictions or change, as well, don’t typically want to completely tarnish these kind of institutionalized friendships (Barack, 2007). Adding, any convictions against law enforcement tend to be very crucial to be able to both, be able to provide proof in which that an official had in fact used a form of excessive force adding any kind of criminal attachment, simply because jurors more than often tend to sympathize with law enforcement, making it more difficult to be able to slap them with any kind of crime (Barack, 2007).
Complaint Boards
Another aspect and idea for being able to attempt to control the amount of law enforcement brutality would be seemingly through the use of civilian complaint boards available (Barack, 2007). The use of these kinds of boards are in order to be able to give a sort of independent review of any kind of community complaint, any aid in being able to monitor and law enforcement
