Brian's song is a case study in determination, sportsmanship/friendship and courage.
It involves Chicago Bears players Gale Sayers and Brian Piccolo who are different races and overtime trials around that fact and overcome illness, injury and biggotary in 1966 when the focus of the general public was on segregation rather than integration. The two friends employed the traits of abiding by the golden rule, real and expressed publically concern and empathy for each other. This was a very telling part of our past that still rears its ugly head even in today's 21th century thinking. It is a distain of the mixing of races, cultural and personal ethics and overall humanities.
