Positive and Negative of Science on Food

Genetically Modified Foods are out of number organic foods in the supermarket currently. On the other hand, many research show that GMO Foods are very harmful to our life and environment; however, we can not deny that chemically enhanced food has some positive effects to our society. This essay will describe positive as well as negative impact of science on food focusing on farming and health.

To begin with, there are some positive aspects that consumers can gain from chemically engineered foods. Firstly, an increase in nutrition of food is one attractive effect of science on food. Scientists applied chemical ingredients to create some vitamin and mineral into the seed so that GMO foods contain more nutrition than normal foods. For example, according to Huffingtonpost, experts create the new type fruit called grapple which is a combination of grape and apple, this fruit crunches like an apple but has the flavor of grape, specially has double nutrition and protein of vitamin C from two fruits. As a result, having double nutritional supplement can increase the productivity of that fruit because consumers sure that it is good for their health. In addition, genetically modified foods can easily adapt to new environment. For instance, scientists alter traditional genes to modified genes for plants to confront difficult conditions such as flood, drought and insects so that crops will have a better health and higher resistance. Therefore modified crops will minimize the failure per season and have longer shelf life and it contributes to the development of agriculture culture.
