LinkedIn is an international website used by users of 196 countries from all over the world. Therefore, the competition is to be considered global as well. Jeff Weiner said, "As of November 3, 2011, LinkedIn operates the world's largest professional network on the internet with more than 135 million members". More than half of these members are located outside of the United States. LinkedIn has direct and indirect competitors. Direct competitors for LinkedIn are the ones that form an immediate threat for the company. For example, when it comes to time consumption, it is possible that customers will spend more time on average on this website than on another one. The competitors also consist of different ways of interaction. LinkedIn is seen as a professional networking platform, others can be seen as social, public, business, social sharing or social commerce platforms.
