The small hotels have environment management as the large hotel do. But they don’t have clearly policies and strictly compliance including an announcement to everyone. As a result, the small hotels seem like they don’t have any management about environment.
From interviews with two small hotels about environmental management in hotels. We can conclude that small hotels also have an interest in environmental management like large hotels. Small hotels have good environmental management include they have waste separation for example plastic bottles that can be sold and there has a bit in food waste because they cook enough quantity for customer and ask customer before food was served. Moreover, small hotels have plastic environmental management by lending fabric bags for customer when they go out in order to reduce plastic bags, using a stainless straw instead of a plastic straw for drinks. They don’t use a plastic cup, unless the customer requests a drink pick cup. They use a refillable shampoo bottle instead of using a shampoo packs and use an automatic light bulb. So, the light in the rooms are only turned on when the guests are in the room. And they will turn off the lights in the walkway during the day. The small hotels have planted trees around the hotel to look good weather and air fresh. Moreover, they keep environment clean to make the hotel has good image and make customer satisfy in a good environment.
However, small hotels do not have policies to guide environmental management in their hotels, and they do not publicize on this issue because they do not focus on this as much.
In other words, most of the small hotels are focused on customer service and the convenience of the customer. They do not have a clear management system and their management is not much effective. If we analyze by using environmental management model, it can be analyzed as follows.[pic 1]
