Why Private Schools are better

“America’s first schools were private schools. Its first leaders were taught in private schools, whose goal was to graduate a student capable of making a positive contribution to society. Today, private schools gladly join their newer counterpart – public schools - in creating an educational system that is the envy of the world and the hope for our continued freedom” Council for American Private Education. Today, public schools are over crowed and understaffed, this allows for a huge gap in educational standards and, subsequently, the future of the student and career choices available to them. Private schools are leading the market on education with their strict admission process, teacher expectations, and smaller more manageable class sizes. The effect these things have on the outcome of the student’s education are astounding.

Obviously, getting into a private school is tough. Most of the time the admissions process starts a full year early and can be very taxing on the student and the parents applying. The student has the opportunity to visit the campus and interview with the teachers to make sure that the school is the right fit for both the student and school. Private schools usually require the student to take several entrance exams that test for any number of things including IQ, areas of exceptional gifts, and basic readiness for college. After the student has taken the necessary examines they are selected based on the top scores to proceed to the interview portion of the admission process and if successful with that, the students file is then taken into review and decided upon. The decision is made while considering the students tests scores, interview, recommendations, and transcripts. All of this in order to attend a school that holds its students, and especially teachers, to a higher standard.

For the most part, parents send their children to private schools in order for their children to receive a top notch education. That kind of education standard means that the school must employee teachers with exceptional teaching skills and motivation. In order to achieve this goal the teachers are put through rigorous back ground checks, in-depth interpersonal interviews, and are required to have multiple certifications and degrees. The teachers are what make the school great and the students intrigued. Teachers are expected to provide one on one support if the student requires it, as well as provide progress reports on how the student is progressing through the class. Many factors go into the key differences between private and public schools, but none as notable as the class size difference.
