Reverend Hale is not a hero because he preaches about God and He is the person influencing him to make his decisions. God's intentions are to help others, guide people, to give them hope, and peace. “ How can you bare to see this child suffering? Look at her, Tituba. Look at her God Given innocence; her soul is so tender; we must protect her, Tituba; the Devil is out and preying on her like a beast upon the flesh of the pure lamb. God will bless you for your help. “ ( Miller 1.47) Hale tells Tituba that they must protect Betty and also keeps bring up the Devil along with God which meaning without God he possibly wouldn’t be able to help out the girls. “ You are selected, Tituba, you are chosen to help us cleanse our village. So speak utterly, Tituba, turn your back on him and face God ­­ face God, Tituba, and God will Protect Tituba! “ (Miller 1.46) He preaches about cleansing the village and says who's better than a Minister to fight off the Devil meaning this is his way if saying I'll help to fight this battle without being a hero & being able to be a good person. He's helping out the girls by the bible because without it he wouldn't be able to fight the "witches spirits." Therefore, Reverend Hale intends no good for the people and also isn't a hero. Mary Warren makes a poppet for Goody Proctor and tells her “We must all love each other now” (Miller II.53).

Mary is a maid for John Proctor, and becomes involved in the Salem witch hunt as one of the accusers, led by Abigail Williams.In my state of mind I believe that Mary's intentions for Elizabeth are good because she tells proctor and Elizabeth “I saved her life today! (Millier II.59) which indicates she's trying to protect Elizabeth.
