Case study: Bombardier ERP Implementation
Bombardier company decided to implement ERP system because had difficulties with sharing data between manufacturing facilities and suffering labour mobility due to the fact that skills required to operate IS were not transferable and cost of ownership IS was multiplied by number of IS maintained.
Integrated organization which sharing data and organization with set of unified IS and processes are future vision of Bombardier. Savings of 1.171 billion USD are estimated thanks to implementation. Integration, standardized processes, reducing of the amount of paper used, savings in procurement and reducing product cost and identification of KPI are benefits.
The 1st phase: Integration testing carried out on schedule. Problems occurred during end users preparation. Users complained about providing too much information in short time, lack of supporting tools, inability to explain changes in the business. Other negative factors were scepticism and resistance of users.
