Stress Effect on Nutrition
In the article of “Stress Effect on Nutrition “Researchers Dr. Vicki Griffin, Dr, Edwin Neblett and Evelyn Kissinger have stated that“A faulty diet can certainly be a source of stress. Conversely, stress can lead to poor dietary habits.”( Paul Rosch).These researchers have all proven and stated that the choices you make in life can affect lead to a poor nutrition. Some key points to look out from this is Prolonged Stress affect nutrition status needs; “Prolonged stress increases the metabolic needs of the body because stress hormones tend to accelerate heart rate, increase muscle tension; elevate blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels; and cause a cascade of another metabolic changes”(Stress Effect on Nutrition). One connection I did find “Lifestyle and Health” Chapter were life event approach of how much stress the body can carry trying to find a life stress score. “ People who score 300 or more on the SSRS, the researchers say, run about an 80% risk of suffering a major health problem within the next two years” My score was pretty high having one of my life event be in the top 5. The #1 stressor was ‘ Death of a spouse’ which would bring that Stress leading to an unhealthy nutrition going back to the article. Another connection i made betweeen the article and and chapter was Uplifts in life of how positive experience in life can neutralize the effect of many hassles. So going back to the article having to start healthy choices in daily habits
One interesting point that stood out to myself was sometimes our daily hassles we don’t realize that they have become a stressor on us because it has become an unhealthy habit. Hassles are irritating demands that occur in our daily and may cause more stress than major life changes do. For example, Standing in line, being stuck in traffic, or being put on hold
