Nissan Company

 Nissan Company utilizes Operations management functions to provide a source of value to its customers. They do this through a combination of sales, and manufacturing of their motor vehicles. Nissan has achieved an advantage in the marketplace by utilizing its operations management to its potential by looking into the specific needs of customers in today’s changing marketplace. Everything from the color schemes to the add-in options available to customers.

Operations Management

Within Operations management there are both Service directives as well as Manufacturing. They effectively utilize both to provide the value to their customers.  The service directive are aimed specifically to target the customers. The sales and maintenance services provided at the local dealership level, all the way to the management techniques initiated by the Nissan Company

Inventory Strategy        

Nissan utilizes what they call “just in time” technology. By utilizing a scheduled production schematic they are able to manufacture the items required, without having to have extra space to store the unused parts. Nissan also monitors the use and production rates at their facilities, this helps them to determine production availability and what they could possibly do to be more efficient in production.

Without service operations, the manufacturing operations would cease to exist. Think of it this way. If you don’t have any customers, why would you continue to produce a product? Both sides to this coin have to work hand in hand to support each other.

Management Techniques.

The CMP and PERT evaluation techniques are 2 management techniques used by companies to prioritize and target specific goals. When used correctly these tools are invaluable to companies. The Critical Path Method used statistical data to compile a singular best plan of action. These are highly useful for a well-defined activity. PERT on the other hand is a way for project managers to handle the uncertainties. This technique uses the best of the most probable solutions to immediate events.
