CHAPTER I : INTRODUCTION
1.1 PROJECT BACKGROUND
The researcher name is TEH MUHAMMAD OTHMAN BIN AHMAD ANUAR student of final year diploma in game design and animation in semester september 2018 that will proceed on final year project for this semester. I was instructed to discuss and come out with a proposal about a Digital Game about the theme Malaysia or Management Science University. I have choose the Malaysia theme and use one of Malaysia Martial Art to develop my digital game, Silat is one of the martial art of Malaysia.Silat is deeply entrenched in the traditions and culture of Malaysian civilization. There are many style and school of silat. The game will be develop is an action 2D platformer game. The protagonist is one of the best martial artist and a guru of silat. His village was attacked by the evil antagonist and his army. His village was attack by the intruders. The enemy assumed that they have kill the Silat guru and continue to attack the village in oder to conquered it. To reclaim his village, he must fight with his Silat skills and clear every obstacle to wiped all the intruders and take down the antagonist.
1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT
There are not many platformer action game about martial art. Most of the platformer action game has random fighting skills and not a certain martial art only. Silat has many style and school of silat and it is one of the complicated martial art. There are not many Game Developers apply martial art skills in the game and mostly used basic fighting skills. According to reseach most of the action platformer game doesnt even used fighting skills, most of it use weapons and vehicles. The action platformer game scene is lacing of hand to hand action.
1.3 OBJECTIVES
This project will consist of the Digital Game “Silat Guru”
i. To introduce the martial art of Silat to action platformer Game.
ii. To give out knowledge about self defense and martial art skills.
1.4 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
The game will be entitled “Silat Guru”. The concept of the game will be action platformer game and the action will be hand to hand to combat of silat with additional of ability of the pantagonist. The attack will be based on basc silat syle and will be having some ability to overcome all the obstacle of the platform. There will be a single pllatform stage where player need to clear all the obstacle and face off the final boss at the end of the stage. The palyer can pick up food to fill up the health bar and books to refill the ability boost bar to perform special ability. The storyline is centered on the pantagonist determined to defeat all the intruders and take down the antagonist by using his silat skills and ability. The design of the charater will done by using Adobe Illustrator and the mechanic of the game will be using Unity 3D engine.
1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
The significance of this game is how Malaysia is lacking of digital game that introduce it owns culture. This game will help to introduce silat malaysia capabilities and style. Furthermore this game will educate the martial art on self defense.
1.6 LIMITATIONS OF THE PROJECT
There are a lot of limitations in this project that have been stumbled upon. First of all, the game will be in 2D Game, so it will not look realistic as 3D. Since silat have a lot of different style and school, I will have to focus only one type of style and school. The obstacle which is the antagonist men will be static and not move around because it is a hand to hand combat style, so the player need to go closer to trigger the men. There will only a single stage since the the protagonist was attack at his village. There will only one ability for the protagonist to use since he mainly focus on his hand to hand combat.
CHAPTER II : LITERATURE REVIEW
The main purpose of the literature review chapter is to expand upon the context and background of the study, to further define the problem that will be faced on developing this animation, and to provide empirical and theoretical bases for the research.
2.1. Synopsis of Game (Silat Guru!)
The protagonist is one of the best martial artist and a guru of silat. His village was attacked by the evil antagonist and his army. His village was attack by the intruders. Rotoscoping technique is used to give more realism to the animation of the characters’ movements. Save the game whenever you want and continue from where you left even if you are out of lives. This capability will provide you to finish the overall game!
