Oppression, prolonged cruel or unjust treatment or control. You can help other overcome oppression by teaching them. Oppression can be overcome by getting an education. Most importantly, oppression is overcome by love. Actions and sacrifices are necessary to overcome oppression.

Teaching others helps overcome oppression. In the Power of One, P.K. teaches the African. For example, he gathered them into a church and taught them how to read. He also taught Africans how to make music. As shown in the movie, P.K. gathers the African prisoners and they sing for their audience.

Mark Mathabane uses education to overcome oppression. Mark goes to school. In the article, he is the only one of his siblings to go to school. Mark uses education to be better that the people that live in his apartheid. Mark is now a well known author who writes about his life.

The most important way to overcome oppression is with love.
