Righteous is a start-up wholesaler business which specializes in wholesaling fruit and vegetables to greengrocers throughout Adelaide, the difference which Righteous provides is that it sells and promotes ugly fruit and vegetables which are discarded due to consumers cosmetic standards though the produce still provides all the benefits which the ‘fit’ produce give. Righteous expects to catch the interest of local Adelaide residents with its unique approach of something new within the market at a lower cost and promoting the fact that its eco-friendly and value for money. The company plans to build a strong market position within Adelaide due to the growing interest within eco-friendly acts and sustainable practices. Righteous aims to offer its products to primarily young couples, retired pensioners and eco-conscious customers at the start, as they believe that this market is probable to gain success due to their limited budgets and awareness about waste. As the business continuous to promote the brand and ugly produce, Righteous believe it will expand its primary customer base to all fruit and vegetable shoppers. As this is only the beginning of the company, Righteous’ owners wish to expand into production of sauces/marinades are various products made by ugly fruit and vegetables based on its success rate after 3 years, though the expansion into products has not been looked in to closely it is just a minor assumption.
Mission
Sourcing, purchasing, and branding uniquely ‘ugly’ fruits and vegetables which would be discarded due to the cosmetic standards of the major supermarket chains, then distributing them through smaller retailers and grocers at a discounted price. We will create market awareness of our brand and cease environmentally unfit standards that produce waste.
Owner(s) Detail:
Having grown and continuing to work in a family owned agricultural business, and being a family employee of a motel business from the years 1995-2006, there are 10 years’ experience of; labouring; handling of raw products; transportation of products; quality control; servicing of plant equipment; customer service; clerical duties; book keeping.
From 2010 onward there is direct management experience in the family owned agricultural business that includes all forms of business level management in an unorganised manner that has been restructured successfully from 2011 to 2014.
As of 2012 is a full time University student studying a Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship), expecting to graduate 2015.
Experience working for a family business at a young age of 13, starting to be a part of management at the family restaurant from age 15. During this time frame there is also experience working in various customer based entities, for example cafes and restaurants.
Currently a full time student studying Bachelor of Businees (Entrepreneurship) learning about the various concepts and models of the business world.
Business Description:
Righteous is located in Adelaide, South Australia, it is equally owned and managed/operated amongst four of its partners. All four students are studying in the fields of Business off branches and have various different degrees of experiences and speciality knowledge. The company intends to keep the business work spread amongst them four until the business starts to have a greater demand in which they will start hiring various new and innovative staff to help promote the business and continue its operations in large scale.
Products and Services
As mentioned previously Righteous offers ugly fruit and vegetables which are discarded due to consumers cosmetic standards. The fruit and vegetables will be sourced from various local South Australian farms which will all be checked and made sure that all products are 100% fit for human consumption and have all the benefits which other fruit and vegetables have with the slight difference being appearance. Righteous will strive to consider all its customers and try tailor its product demands based on each buyer. As there is a large consideration to make other products using the produce, Righteous plans to incorporate various products in order to accommodate various consumers and have customer satisfaction based on the quality and value for money factors.
