Assessment Process & Needs Statement

In today's society, Planned Parenthood is a health care provider in health care for teens, women, and men as well as the largest provider for sex education. People need to be educate regarding Planned Parenthood because is a health care issue in our society. Planned Parenthood provides around 5 million people in the United States with information, education, sexual, and reproductive health care services a year, and 3 million of teens, women, and men visiting health centers for information and services.

In New York State, Planned Parenthood provided 11 million medical services in 2011 for three million clients by helping them to prevent 486,000 unintended pregnancies, which was lower than the previous year with 595,000. A "78% of the clients have incomes at or below 150% of the federal poverty level" (Planned Parenthood, 2013, p. 1).

Needs Statement

The Planned Parenthood mission statement is that "every individual has the right to manage his or her fertility regardless of age, income, race, ethnicity, marital status, and origin" (Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., 2013, p. 1). Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization, which helps with unplanned pregnancies, cancer screening, breast exams, and mammograms referrals because they do not have the mammogram equipment.
