Have you ever heard of Bill Russell? Well, hello my name is Tyler Smith and today I am going to tell you the life story of Bill Russell. I chose him because to me he is the best basketball player that has been in the NBA.
It all starts out like this, if you think Bill is his first name you are wrong. William Felton Russell is the correct name; he was born on February 12, 1934 in Monroe, La. His parents are Charlie and Katie Russell and he has three kid's two girls and one boy and there mother and his wife was Diddi Russell. He went to school at McClymonds high school in Oakland graduated and went on to college at the University of San Francisco to win eight (MVP) awards throughout the four year college term. After he finished college he was drafted to the NBA to the St. Louis hawks which then he was traded to the Boston Celtics on April 29, 1956.
During his off season before the NBA he played for the Olympic USA basketball team and set a career high record of 19.6 (RPG) and managed to pull in 14.7 (PPG) and took off with a record of 13-3 in the beginning of the season. Through his 13 seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics he earned 11 championship rings and MVP five consecutive years while competing against one of the toughest players in the NBA who set a record of scoring 100 points in a game, Wilt "the stilt" Chamberlin.
