Being a food journalist isn’t as easy as it sounds although it is very interesting and the challenges that comes with it is actually quite formidable. A common problem an aspiring journalist usually encounters is that he should remember that he needs to have the passion for food and turn it to expertise and stay professional. He also needs to have a great palate and be able to connect to the readers by giving them the experience he had through words: This means he not only describe the taste but also its smell, its texture and also the feeling he gets while having the experience. Also, one has to consider a lot of factors before making a critic about the experience and also remember not to give out biased opinions - A food journalist should remember that his comment is not just for himself but also should speak for others as well. It would be ideal to always have the experience twice just to double check if your first experience had a flaw or was a fluke, this way, you are also securing your credibility. Always remember to put the important details on your review such as who you are giving a critic on, what they did - was the presentation good, boring or was just too much? Was their service great enough to make you come back? Where the venue was and the ambiance it had. After these, always explain elaborately on why and how you were able to give such remarks. And it is also a good idea to give out ideas how the flaws could be fixed if there was any, but to be able to do this, he should be well-informed about food, culinary arts and customer service himself.
