My CQ
When I received my CQ scores, I was quite encouraged of where I was in my feedback. I was very high on the CQ Drive as well as Strategy. This is a big testament to my trip to Ethiopia this past winter. I had the opportunity to listen and understand a completely different culture than what I was used too and if I was going to learn and understand the culture, I had to first embrace and adapt to what I was learning.
Present Challenges
One of my present challenges I am facing is working with someone who is very close minded on who God and what He has done. Every conversation turns into someone becoming more and more offended as words come out. Taking this course has really helped me gain more of an understanding of how I should approach conversations about the Gospel with her.
Future Opportunities
The local church I attend is very multicultural and it gives me a glimpse of what Heaven will look like once I get there. My ultimate goal is to plant another church somewhere in this world, but to also have people from all sorts of backgrounds and from different cultures to show the beauty of who God has created us to be.
Example of CQ Strategy
One way I have used my CQ Strategy in the past six months is when I went to Ethiopia. I had to make sure I was aware of the African culture and what was respectful and what was not. In order to mentally prepare my time over in Ethiopia, we had to brainstorm different things we could and could not do in order to make sure we were not causing a scene or being disrespectful to the local individuals who live there. I also believe my current role allows me to use my sub-dimensions by being aware of someone else’s perspective. I understand that we all have different perspectives, but it is important to meet others where they are at like Jesus did so we are able to understand where the other person is coming from.
