Indonesia is a land of hope. Since early centuries, the Indonesian archipelago has been an important trade region. The country has a strategic sea-lane position fostered inter-island, whereby international trade, including links with Indian kingdoms and China, which were established several centuries BCE. Therefore, trade has since fundamentally shaped Indonesian history.

Moreover, Indonesia is the spice king of yesteryears. Spice Islands of Maluku are an archipelago within Indonesia, and was once historically known for the only sources of nutmeg and mace. The nutmeg plant is native to Indonesia's Banda Islands, and it is once one of the world's most valuable commodities. In addition to that, the vegetation of the small and narrow islands, encompassed by the sea, is very luxuriant. This includes rainforests, sago, rice and the famous spices such as nutmeg, mace, cubeb pepper and cloves, among others, as are cocoa, coffee and fruit.

This eventually drew the first European colonial powers to Indonesia. The country continued to be influenced by foreign powers, in which all of it is drawn to its natural resources. Besides that,
