IBM S.W.O.T Analysis

        Of all of the computer printer companies in the world, the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM or "the company"), has been a leading force in its arena for many of years.  Not only is IBM one of the leading companies, it is one of the largest.  IBM has invented dozens of computers and products created to aide in the enrichment of computer and printers.  The IBM Company was incorporated in 1911, becoming a major producer of employee clock in machine, which was called punch tabulating machines.  IBM Company is also credited with building a series of calculators (the 600s) in the 1930’s that was based on the same principles of their punch card processing equipment.         

The IBM Company developed the MARK series of computers in 1944.   It was a giant noisy machine over 55 feet long and 8 feet high, a 5-ton device contained almost 760,000 separate pieces. The computer was initially used by the US Navy for gunnery and ballistic calculations to launch missiles, the Mark I was in operation until 1959.  Fast forward to today, the IBM Company, has thousands of employees, and hundreds of inventions, and innovations that they manage.  In order to accomplish these feats, IBM has a Business Analytics & Strategy that measures their place in the environment, and track the pending competitors to keep them at bay.  In order for IBM Company to succeed in today's environment, and to continue to grow, the business need to lead through the increased complexity of the economy and changing technology.  Volatility of emerging competition, drives the need for the IBM Company to perform operational excellence, seek collaborations across enterprises and continue to innovate the functions that develops higher quality and leadership.  

IBM’s continued focus on building a smarter workforce that can, not only rival the competition, but supersede them.   IBM Company maintains the resources of these intelligent   human to significantly affect the possibilities of their bottom line.  However, the continue challenge of finding and retaining top level employees, with the talent of their current workforce is sometimes elusive.  With the use of their talent management software, and human resource department helps the IBM organization meet these challenges.  Innovative workforce science, analytics and collaboration factored into the mix allows for the connection to be made.  The talent management solutions incorporates Q & A’s, and business simulations that helps to ensure the best-fit, and engage prospective talent workforce to develop deeper client relationships while driving measurable business attributes wanted for its organization.

The other asset of organizations is information, and since the development of the World Wide Web, there has been an interconnection of world of business, and of individuals.  IBM has a priority to the customer protect their most intimate information as never before.  Social media has made the communication of family and friends at the fingertips of anyone who has internet connection.  With the ongoing challenges of keeping this communication place safe, the IBM Company offers a deep enterprise security portfolio customized to prospective company needs. As the undisputed security company in protecting privacy, deploying security innovations, and reduce the cost and complexity of IT security, IBM can safeguard critical data from compromise.
