Dear Chef Brock:
Husk has established itself as the premier restaurant in Charleston, SC by combining the world’s best ingredients and staff. As you know, bookkeeping in a restaurant is the dominating factor in determining the successes and failures of the business, but most importantly it provides vital information to create manageable and efficient goals. Which is why if there is an opening for an accountant within your business I would be delighted if you thought of me for the position.
As a forensic accountant in your business I can bring the academic ability I gained through my education along with over 6 years of kitchen experience to help determine future business plans by creating and analyzing Husk’s financial statements.
Learning the lifestyle and grind of a restaurant growing up taught me how unique and complex this industry is. Having said that, my awareness of these delicate ingredients will allow me to relay the correct message to the ones making the decisions on what inventory to buy for your business. Even further, my recent BA degree in accounting, gave me the opportunity to take courses such as cost accounting, accounting information systems and taxation for decision making. These courses have given me knowledge on how to properly manage books but more importantly pass on vital information to you allowing for efficient business plans.
I know most independent restaurants do their books on their own or have someone already in place, and I would be pleased to start as someone’s accounting assistant with the opportunity to further expand in your business. Is there a chance we could have a short conversation about my potential employment within your business?
Sincerely,

Dear Chef Brock:
Having met you and viewing your extravagant kitchen, magnificent fresh garden and meeting the friendly staff, I am delighted about the chance to join your accounting team. I am appreciative that you took the time to meet with me yesterday as well as walk me around your restaurant and garden.
We were able to discuss what I could do to help your business through my education and experience. One day soon I hope to display these skills as one of your accountants and help you make vital business decisions. At one point in the interview we discussed my relocation and that is still no problem as I have numerous temporary homes until I find a place to settle as I am from the Charleston area.
Having heard what your accounting department entails, I feel as though I would be able to make an impact in your business by dissecting what inventory is and what is not making money. Along with that I would fit into the atmosphere you created because of the unique personality I have adapted working in a kitchen myself through the years. I look forward to your decision and speaking with you soon.
