What Were You Thinking?

This engagement activity involves communicating with oneself and getting to know yourself better. My list consists of the few things I thought of whilst in class. My list included the cute girl I saw at the University’s Recreational Center, the basketball games I indulged in earlier that day, the dinner I was going to have with my father following the conclusion of that class session, snapchat and concerts, and beating my best friend out in a game of basketball, Apple’s new iPhone that was unveiled earlier during that day and a romantic date of watching Netflix and just relaxing. The patterns I see emerging is that basketball makes up majority of what I’m thinking of, and things I’m fascinated by normally pop up in my thoughts even though I don’t mean them to. Prior to class I was quite aware of most of these thoughts especially the Netflix date and basketball playing and the dinner with my dad. And the others, well, let’s just say one doesn’t walk to class thinking “hey I’m going to think about that cute girl I saw at the gym today.” The pattern I have noticed is that I think of the highlight of my day which is why they emerge in thought.

Well, firstly, I’d say the basketball thoughts and the unveiling of the Apple iPhone thoughts fall under values. Why, you ask? To me basketball is something of import. The ability to play and enjoy the sport is something I cherish and hold dear to heart. Iphones? Not much of a fan but the concept that a group of people have come together to witness the release of something designed by people is truly amazing, it shows how our world is constantly changing and change is something I value. Basketball thoughts could be an attitude too because I love basketball to a point where I play the sport every single day. The cute girl I saw at the gym is a belief because that is what I believe and like they say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  Not everyone who saw her would say that she was cute, that could be an opinion, my opinion. I believe snapchat and concerts and are attitudes expressed in my list because I cannot stand those two things in one place. People recording at a concert rather than enjoying and tasking in every moment of what is to be witnessed at that very omen. To sum up, these are normal thinking patterns for me, noting out of the ordinary. My thoughts could be influenced by things people say or things I view and so on, but our environments are responsible for inciting thought.
