End of Life Planning Essay

The importance of end of life planning can be seen by all members involved. Oftentimes children don’t know what their parents wanted for their end of life experience and therefore when a parent loses their functionality it can become an extremely stressful for all those involved. Taking the time to think through what you want will make it easy for your children and those you leave behind. I am naturally a no fuss kind of person and therefore the idea of my children stressing out about what to do for me as my life nears its end does make me consider what it is I may want. Although before now I had never really thought much about it. I want to make sure my daughters are taken care of though.

As far as end of life care is concerned, I don’t think anything has impacted my worldview overall. I think that for the most part I truly don’t fear death. I want to live a full life and make sure my people left behind are covered completely. No one knows when they are going to pass away and therefore it is important to take all details into consideration. I personally do not believe that euthanasia is a sin for the miserable elderly and I feel that I would want to appoint someone to make that decision. I do not want to be a burden for someone which is why I choose to take care of myself and I plan to not let my body become old or frail nor will I let my mind deteriorate. I plan to use it so I don’t lose it. Although I am sure many people do not feel that euthanasia is a biblical thing I don’t feel there is anything morally wrong with it.

I want my last days to be full and happy surrounded by family. I want to be able to fully function with all of my body parts working the way God intended. I wish to celebrate life with my grandchildren for as long as I can. I would have my husband make my decisions for me if I could not make them myself or my best friend Abby. She has always had my best interest at heart and takes care of me already. I do not want any sort of assistance for my end of life care medically prolonging my life when my body is ready to go. I am happy to just let my body finish the course and go see my Jesus.
