- How did the negative and positive labels placed on a group become self-fulfilling prophecies?
The negative and positive labels stem from the false notion of a group whose thought is believed by the majority. Even though it is a false notion, it comes true because people considered it is a fact. Moreover, it can be the incorrect notion from the family that affects the way people think about other people and the way they label people according to their parents’ beliefs, opinions.
- In a regular child care setting, what kind of labels could one hear being used and how are they harmful.
The labels relate to the difference concerning every aspect. The kind of labels which is used to assess a person’s body structure, to judge about their nationalities, their families, their religious, their background and their intelligence are the most common labels heard in the child care setting. This is the most hazardous things that mustn’t existed in the child care as it affects the child’s cognitive, social and physical development. Being labelled child will feel bad about themselves, become reserved and pessimistic. They don’t want to communicate or talk to the people around calling them by label names therefore they get more and more separated from the group. They think about themselves and start to double themselves whether they are not good enough or whether they do something wrong. Psychologically speaking, the child is going to be exhausted and miserable when they can’t be included and welcomed friendly. This can lead to some disorder or mental disease such as autism which is very dangerous.
