Is Cyberterrorism a Real Threat to America?
Efforts have been made to address the possibility of a cyberterrorist attacking the country and the havoc that the attack will cause. The United States government through its various law enforcement agencies had implemented plans and various strategies to address the said threat. These agencies had employed personnel who are known to be cyber experts to counter these cyberterrorist but the general public is wary as to the veracity of the threat. On whether or not cyberterrorism will really cause havoc to the lives of everyone as what the media has portrayed it. It is time for the general public to know more about cyberterrorism and its threats.
An article written by Gabriel Weimann which is titled "Cyberterrorism, How Real is the Threat," had provided thorough explanation about cyberterrorism and its threat. As to whether or not there is a need for the public to be alarmed of the havoc that it will cause is something that an average person should be critical about. The message that Weimann's article had conveyed to its reader is the possibility that it may happen but it is should not be a cause for alarm.
Generally, the article was written to inform the public about cyberterrorism. Weimann thoroughly explain to his readers that cyberterrorism is not what the media had purported it to be. A number of issues have been addressed by the article that will enable its readers to understand cyberterrorism, what areas or agencies that will be attacked and who are capable of executing the said attacks. However, the article contains too much information that it is sometimes hard to digest all the information it contains in one reading. The average reader has to read the whole article over again to understand everything. It seems that the writer wants to incorporate all the information about terrorism. Nonetheless, Weimann was able to succeed in that aspect.
The article is very informative and it provides awareness to the general public since it covers all areas about cyber terrorism. The threats and the possible outcomes in instances that an attack will occur and what will happen if a cyberterrorist and hacktivist will combine forces. Not only that, the article will give ideas to a would-be cyberterrorist.
