Cultural Event Report on Art in the Park
INTRODUCTION
“Beep beep beep!” The alarm clock went off that sunny fall morning on September 12th, 2015. I stretched as rose up and forced myself out of bed, then got ready. When I was all ready to go, my mother and I got in the car and drove away. As we were driving in the car, I told my mother how excited I was to go to Art in the Park at Julia Davis Park. I have always loved going to Art in the Park every year, and I thought it would be a good idea for my cultural review (consequently, I could kill two birds with one stone).
DESCRIPTION
Art in the Park is an annual event in Boise that is held at Julia Davis Park, which is in downtown Boise right along the Boise river greenbelt. At this event, local artist have booths in which they display their pieces of art to the the citizens of Boise (and surrounding areas) in hopes of selling some of their products. Many items up for display are very unique and show a lot of personality. For example, at his event there was one booth in which every item up for display was made entirely out of spoons: from plates, to clocks to jewelry.
At the event of Art in the park, there is a vast variety of booths and artist that
annually set up a station to sell their products. When I was at Art in the Park, I saw many kiosks. For example, I saw an artist that was selling hammocks. I also saw an artist that was selling handmade shirts. Once the shirt was made, she then drew a unique design on the front of the fabric. I even got the chance to see her draw a design on a shirt, and it was amazing what she could make!
The different stations at this event show pieces of art that can be traced from all over the globe. At Art in the Park, one can find booths that contain a variety of art pieces from around the world, such as glass blowing, which originated in Italy, or watercolor paintings, which originated in eastern China, where these paintings are still quite popular.
EVALUATION
Personally, I love Art in the Park. I love seeing the unique pieces of art one cannot find anywhere else! My favorite booths at this event are the ones that are selling handmade clothes. This year, I bought this really nice sweatshirt that has a picture of the United States on the front, and Idaho is cut out of it. This sweatshirt is an example of the unique items sold at this annual event. Another thing I love about Art in the Park is the food that's there (although it might not be considered art). Every year I go there, there is always the best food trucks with unique, delicious food from all over the world. Some of these dishes sold here are hard to come by. For example, this year I got an arabic dish called falafel, and it was delicious!
In my perspective, the only downfall of Art in the Park is the prices. Whenever I go
