Climate change in the Arab world is becoming a significant problem. The agriculture sector will be affected adversely soon. For instance, today, the extreme heat has been experienced for a more extended period than before. The results prevent the agriculture sector from performing well. The land available for agriculture is expected to reduce by a more significant percentage, most probably, by the middle of the century. Agricultural land is not the only area affected by climate change. Heat increase has transformed the way of life in the cities in the Middle East. According to Uprety et al, the regions could experience heat conditions that might last up to four months in a row annually (20). Therefore, the current condition calls for all stakeholders to devise the ways to manage the situation before it gets worse.
North African region is projected to experience an extreme rise in temperatures which puts pressure on plantations and crops reducing their productivity. Water resources have also been affected by the extreme temperatures in the Arab world. With food scarcity and low water level to sustain crop productions, migrations become inevitable for those living in deserts areas. Additionally, the risks of conflicts may arise because little water resources left may cause arguments among communities using them.
I agree with the article “Searing Heat Could Make Countries in North Africa and along the Persian Gulf Unlivable” by Charlene Gubash which states that the dangers being experienced in the Arab world result from the climate changes. Blistering hot summers have become frequent in the region. Climate change, as projected by the environmentalist, will render the environment unsustainable due to the uncomfortable state, which is being experienced today in North-Africa along Arab Gulf and Asia world
